What Is Robot?

I tought that If my blog focus on Robotics in particular Industrial Robotics so we will look into the Industrial Robotics in this post. We are going to start "What Is Robot?" and then to continue with specially "Industrial Robotics". Before mentioning "Robots", I would like to mention the importance&location of the Robots in our near future. Most of the time robots are subjected in the sci-fiction novels and cinema(thanks to the Karel Čapek and Isaac Asimov). So it makes Robots more special in our lives. It is increasingly  getting more valuable in either social life and industrial production day by day. "These robots are perhaps most familiar to the world through their highly popular videos-the Boston Dynamics YouTube channel, for example, as of May 2020 has 1.72 Million subscribers, making it probably the largest YouTube channel focused on robotics." (It could be seen from Google Trend)

This is very simple and important question for the future that we have started to create. Most huge companies give more importance to the Industry 4.0 and specially Robotics to transform factories to the "dark factories"(Smart Machines&Robots don't need lights). No one wants to miss the industrial revolution(Industry 4.0). As a current topic, COVID19 seems to be accelerated the digitalization in our normal life besides industry. We may forward industry to the Industry 4.0 in a short time(More Digitalization Means Less Interactions With Humans). Most companies start to find new ways to reduce the workforce. Especially most popular mobile-robot company, Boston Dynamics, started to sell their capable mobile-robot. There is no suspicious to see more robots in our daily lives in that. You can see improvements of the industry below.

"The word robotics was derived from the word robot, which was introduced to the public by Czech writer Karel Čapek in his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), which was published in 1920. The word robot comes from the Slavic word robota, which means slave/servant. The play begins in a factory that makes artificial people called robots, creatures who can be mistaken for humans – very similar to the modern ideas of androids. Karel Čapek himself did not coin the word. He wrote a short letter in reference to an etymology in the Oxford English Dictionary in which he named his brother Josef Čapek as its actual originator."[From Wikipedia] What about Industrial Robotics? Basically, Industrial Robot is a robot system for a manufacturing. After this point when we say "Robot" you should know it as if we say "Industrial Robot".

There are many differet kind of applications that robots are used.(As an example, you can choose correct robot for your application with using some usefull tool. I am going to add selection tool for KUKA Robotics. Click and see. You can find from there what are the important keys that we have to consider when choosing correct robot.) By 2020 more than 1.7 million new industrial robots will be installed in factories worldwide, according to IFR. You can see the largest Robot markets in the world.
